12- Books are better

Reading is for everyone. If you want to learn something new, you need to read; if you want to pass your exam, you need to read and follow the instructions, and if you want to understand an essay or a poem, you need to read it. If you can't get it once then try reading it again.

Reading is a process of decoding a symbol in order to derive its meaning.

The Fault in Our Stars, Paper Towns, A Walk to Remember, and etc. These novels has its own movie version. But the question is, why does it only became more popular when it releases its movie version? Is watching movie more entertaining than reading books? Does watching movie exercises our imagination? And is reading are only for the nerds?

Reading is not only for the nerds. It is for everyone of all ages, regardless whether you are old or young; you have a free will to read anything you want. You want romance? Go! These are thing why reading is way more better than movies:

1. In books it is easier to know what are things that is going on to the character's mind.
2. You will not be distracted by the characters, or you can also imagine your favorite actor/ actress doing that scene or..... You can imagine that you are in the situation.
3. Books are very portable than bringing your dvd player or laptop around just to watch.
4. Books doesn't have limited power compare to your laptop and it doesn't consume electricity.
5. Reading books takes longer than watching movie. This is one of the best reasons why reading books is better than watching movie.
6. And it is more relaxing holding a book than holding a dvd player.

These are only the few reasons why reading books is better than watching movie. You don't believe me? Why not try it? To see is to believe.

10-#PeperoDayAPC

Anyeongseyo! Almost all of us know that Pepero is one of the best snack here in our country and also in South Korea where it is manufactured. For those who don't have any idea about Pepero, just keep on reading.

Pepero is a cookie stick, dipped in chocolate. And as of now they have 7 flavors: Chocolate, Strawberry, Almond (coated with Chocolate), Nude, White Chocolate Cookie, and Tiramisu Cheese.
Maybe you're wondering 'What is Pepero Day?'

Lotte brings you the most awaited Pepero Day! Last November 11, 2015 Pepero Day was held at the APC Parking Lot. There is a fusion of two vibrant cultures which is Korean and Filipino cultures in every game. There is 11/11 wish wall where in you can write your thoughts about Pepero Day. DIY Pepero is my favorite part in this event because you are free to design your own Pepero, you can put rice crispies, marshmallows, candies, and etc. There are also games during Pepero Day, and what makes it special is that if you won, you can get your free Pepero! APC Band is present to lighten up the vibe. And this day wouldn't be complete without a souvenir, right? We also have a photo booth where in you can take pictures with your friends.

Fortunately, this event was successful. Organizers, participants, and even professors enjoyed free Pepero brought to us by Lotte.

This event wouldn’t be possible without APJMA (Asia Pacific Junior Marketing Association). They are the ones who invested their time and effort in this event. And also Lotte, because without their product, we will not be able to experience what Pepero Day feels like.

This event is full of laughter and enjoyment. I hope that Pepero will invade our school again and bring more Pepero for us students to enjoy. Again, thank you Lotte for this one.

9- Parasytes

Parasite is a creature that lives in or on another organism and benefits by obtaining nutrients at the host's expense.

Yesterday we watched a Japanese movie entitled ‘Parasyte’ it is a science fiction horror film. It is based on a Japanese manga series which is written and illustrated by Hitoshi Iwaaki. It is about aliens who enter into human brains and takes control. The main character in this movie is Shinichi. An alien tries to enter Shinichi’s brain; unfortunately the alien got blocked because of Shinichi’s headphones. Instead, he invades Shinichi’s right hand. Then, Shinichi calls it Migi. Migi has an eye and a mouth which makes him a cute alien. They join force to kill the other parasites. At first Shinichi is very scared in confronting with the other parasites, but as the time passes by he get used to it.

The movie is exciting and also disgusting because of the eating part. I also love the part when Shinichi saves his ‘friend’ from another parasite. Shinichi looks hot when he went on the top of the building to shoot the other parasite. But the saddest part of the movie is when Mr. A invades the body of Shinichi’s mother and because of that, Shinichi needs to kill the body of his mother to kill the parasite inside her, which is the very hard. Seeing your mother die is very heartbreaking, it feels like you’re already dying. When his mother died he became cold hearted. At the end of the movie it seems that there is a continuation of it, then Ms. Eliz said that there will be a second part of the movie. And now I am looking forward to the second part of it because of Shinichi.

This movie shows that everyone can be brave, fight for what is right.

8- SoM Week

.SoM Week is celebrated annually in Asia Pacific College. The opening started last Monday, October 26, and was held at the parking lot. There were a lot of events last week, namely; the SoM Sports Fest, the SoM Fair, SoM Night, and the most awaited Mr. and Ms. SoM.

The students witnessed the Marketing and Advertising team duke it out with the Business Management team for the first game this year. Students also witnessed the basketball game between MA and Accountancy. Unfortunately, MA lost. On the bright side, MA won the silver medal in Volleyball for the Men's division.

During the SoM fair, booths from different organizations were presented at the cafeteria.  One of the booths present were from APJMA, it is a photo booth where  you can take  pictures with your friends. There were also stalls inside the cafeteria like that day is also for APJMA; they had  the Advertisement IQ and Faculty Bluff as their highlight. AD IQ is a game where you will guess what advertisement or commercial it is just by looking at the clues given to you. A limited amount of time is also given to answer each question. The other booth as I mentioned was Faculty Bluff, it was taken from GMA’s "Celebrity Bluff" so I would imagine that it sounds familiar to all of you. The hosts in this event were Lola Nidora and Yaya Wisdom/Dub. Fortunately, the first ever Faculty Bluff was successful.

And of course the most awaited event in the SoM week was the Mr. And Ms. SoM. I am proud to present that the newly crowned Mr. and Ms. SoM are Karyll Lapuz and Jennah Cruz, both from Marketing and Advertising. Both contestants gave their all in the pageant. The Mr. and Ms. SoM pageant was made possible by JPMAP and other sponsors.

SoM Week was awesome! I just hope that next year's SoM week would be equally or even more amazing than it was this year.

7- APC Non- Smoking Campaign

Smoking is very bad for your health. Smoking harms nearly every organ of the body. Cigarette smoking causes a big percent of lung cancer deaths. It is also accountable for many other cancers and health problems. These include lung disease, heart and blood vessel disease, stroke and cataracts. Women who smoke have a greater chance of pregnancy problems. Your smoke is also bad for other people; they breathe in your smoke and they might get the same problems as smokers do.

Smokers say that they started smoking during their teenage years and are addicted when they reach adulthood. Why people smoke? Based on my observations there are four reasons why young people smoke. It is to look cool, to look mature, to experiment, and because of peer pressure.

In smoking there are pros and cons:

PROS
-         - They will look cool
-          -The bonding experience with other smokers
-          -Burn more calories
-          -Can calm nerves

CONS
-          -The after-smell on your clothes
-          -Bad breathe
-          -Not being able to breathe properly
-          -Hypertension
-          -Yellow teeth
-          -Can cause chapped lips
-          -Coughing so hard

Smoking can kill you. It cause fatal diseases like: Lung cancer, bronchitis, pneumonia and emphysema. Quitting is the best thing that you can do, though it’s hard it will be worth it. Do you really love yourself? If you do, stop smoking. If you try to impress a boy or a girl, do you think they will like you if they found out that you’re smoking? IF YOU REALLY LOVE THEM, QUIT SMOKING. You don’t want to pass your bad habit to them, right? And when you continued to smoke, there is a possibility that your future children will be just like you.
